I had originally thought about naming this blog Two Ends of a Road since I moved three years ago from the southern terminus of Interstate 35 (Texas) to the northern (Minnesota). I thought it would be interesting to explore some of the contrasts between the two states. I was poking around on Wikipedia recently and found such a contrast.
An excerpt from Wikipedia about the Minneapolis, MN Metrodome, the ninth oldest NFL stadium:
The Metrodome cost $68 million to build—roughly $2 million under budget, a rarity for modern stadiums. It is a somewhat utilitarian facility, though not quite as spartan as Metropolitan Stadium. One stadium official once said that all the Metrodome was designed to do was "get fans in, let 'em see a game, and let 'em go home."
An excerpt from Wikipedia about the Arlington, TX Cowboys Stadium, the newest stadium in the NFL:
Originally estimated to cost $650 million, the stadium's current construction cost was $1.15 billion, making it one of the most expensive sports venues ever built. A highlight of Cowboys Stadium is its gigantic center-hung high-definition television screen, the largest in the world, sometimes referred to as "Jerry-Tron". The 160-by-72-foot (49 by 22 m), 11,520-square-foot (1,070 m2) scoreboard surpasses the 8,736 sq ft (812 m2) screen that opened in 2009 at the renovated Kauffman Stadium in Kansas City, Missouri as the world's largest.
